Should You Send Your Child to Preschool?
Are you the parent of a toddler?  If you are, you will soon need to
decide if you want to send your child to preschool.  If you are like
many other parents, you may still be unsure as to whether or not
preschool is right for your child.  If that is the case, you will want to
continue reading on.

One of the best ways to go about determining if preschool is right for
your child is to examine the advantages and disadvantages of
sending your child to preschool.  What you will then want to do is
take those advantages and disadvantages and compare them to your
own personal situation and your own child.  A few of the many
advantages and disadvantages to sending your child to preschool are
outlined below.

As for the advantages to sending your child to preschool, the biggest
advantage is the social skills that they will walk way with. This is nice
if you are a stay-at-home parent. The children of stay-at-home
parents are often limited on their social skills, as many do not have
constant interaction with others at daycare.  It is also likely that your
child will develop a few friendships when in preschool. These
friendships may continue on into kindergarten and possibly even for
a lifetime.

Another one of the many advantages to sending your child to
preschool is preparation for kindergarten.  Kindergarten is the first
step in a lifetime of learning for children. When in kindergarten, your
child should know how to share with others, obey their teacher, and
wait in line for lunch. For some children, these can be difficult tasks,
especially in the beginning. This is where preschool may be able to
offer assistance, as it is viewed as preparation for kindergarten.

Although there are a number of advantages to sending your child to
preschool, you will also find that there are a number of disadvantages
to doing so as well. One of those disadvantages is the cost.  Unless
you qualify for programs, like Head Start, there is a good chance that
you may have to pay for your child to go to preschool. While the cost
of preschool is almost always worth it, you may not have the extra
money to spend.  If that is case, you may want to consider
homeschool preschool.  If you are preparing your child for preschool
from home, you are basically teaching them what they would learn in
preschool already.

In short, the decision as to whether or not you want your child to
attend preschool is your decision to make. With that in mind,
however, it is important to remember the many benefits of preschool,
a few of which were outlined above.
